TMT Mentees Work For The Community

The TMT Mentee Internship Program is a part-time, 20-week program where talented and motivated undergraduate students will get first-hand experience working for the TMT Youth Community Foundation. Interns will be exposed to the many facets of television production, teaching as a profession, and entrepreneurship. TMT Mentees that progress into our 40 week program, will have access to leaders in the community who share similar interests and serve as a thought partner throughout their job search process after graduation. TMT Mentees will also have exposure and networking opportunities with the multiple partner organizations affiliated with the TMT Youth Community Foundation and TooMuchTV Inc.

The Technology Industry is a fast and ever changing sector. Therefore, a technology internship is not only important to entering the industry but also your best bet to gain hands on experience. Internships within the Technology Industry are as varied as the industry itself. From designing or redesigning websites, to working on full-scale ad campaigns, to being exposed to the day-to-day operations of running a company; working with the TMT Youth Community Foundation provides opportunities to be exposed to all aspects of the company.

TMT Mentees Work with "At Risk Youth"

TMT Mentees use a developmental mentoring model that emphasizes the "Five Cs" of youth development: competence, confidence, connection, character, and caring. The Five Cs are a general framework highlighting the critical areas in which all young people need to develop. Both TMT Mentees and program participants benefit tremendously from a framework designed to provide opportunities and training.

TMT Mentees Work with Communities

Our community needs strong leaders who are not only passionate about making a difference-they have the skills to make it happen. TMT Mentees work in leadership and community engagement roles which benefit the community. TMT Mentees explore leadership theory, community organizing, and the role of civic life and identity, as well as gain practical experience in community engagement and leadership.

TMT Mentee are trained as Social Entrepreneurs

Social entrepreneurship is the attempt to draw upon business techniques to find solutions to social problems. Social entrepreneurs drive social innovation and transformation in various fields including education, health, environment and enterprise development. They pursue poverty alleviation goals with entrepreneurial zeal, business methods and the courage to innovate and overcome traditional practices.

TMT Mentees Create Digital Portfolios

As a job seeker, it's tough to find new and innovative ways to stand out from the competition. You can make your resume more creative, produce a video cover letter, or dedicate extra time to social networking, but according to a recent study, 56 percent of employers are more impressed by a candidate's personal website than any other personal branding tool. We help our TMT Mentees create an online presence.

TMT Mentees can become TMT Associates

Our goal is to train and hire TMT Mentees. TMT Mentees that progress into our 40 week program become TMT Associates receive $15/hr. TMT Associates are determined solely on the basis of relative ability, knowledge, and skills, after fair and open competition which assures that all receive equal opportunity. Promotions are granted based on budget surplus and are determined annually during 1st quarter of the fiscal year.
